Four Farms to Visit in Devon
This county in south west England is famed for its sandy beaches, fossil cliffs and picturesque medieval towns and there’s plenty of rolling countryside to explore too. Devon is home to many country farms that have entertainment for the whole family and with many of us choosing a staycation this year, there’s no better time to visit.
If you’ve been thinking about taking a trip to Devon this summer, see below to find out more about just four of their best farm attractions.
Pennywell Farm
Pennywell Farm is open seven days a week and visitors can find a host of animal attractions, including Pennywell miniature pigs, miniature donkeys, rabbits, mice, goats, lambs and even a tortoise and hedgehogs. There’s also hands-on animal activities, tractor rides and a miniature railway.
Totnes Rare Breeds Farm
As the name suggests, this farm is home to plenty of rare breeds which you might not find anywhere else. Situated in Totnes near the South Devon Steam Railway, visitors will find Eagle Owls, Welsh Mountain Sheep, Guernsey Goats, Pygmy Goats and many more.
Quince Honey Farm
This bee farm in South Molton is home to over 60,000 bees and a wide range of delicious honeys. Visitors can enjoy beekeeping tours, candle rolling, critter encounters and mini beekeeper sessions for little ones.
Burrow Farm
Set amongst the stunning East Devon countryside, Burrow Farm is situated on the National Trust’s Killerton Estate. It’s a 350 acre traditional mixed farm and produces beef from its herd of Red Ruby Devon cows, alongside crops like wheat, oats and barley. Visitors can purchase meat and deli products from the farm shop or local farmers markets.
