Moorland Fuels Celebrates International Women’s Day with its Trio of Female Drivers!

This International Women’s Day, Moorland Fuels is not just celebrating equality, they’re shattering stereotypes in the traditionally male-dominated fuel industry. With three incredible women drivers behind the wheel, Moorland Fuels is a shining example of diversity and inclusion, paving the way for a more equitable future in the sector.

‘’I had never dreamed of becoming a lorry driver when I was younger or to work in such a male dominated industry, although Moorland’s have been so welcoming and I’m really enjoying just enjoying getting to know my team’’ Says Kerry Parsons – Baby tanker driver at Moorland Fuels.

‘’I do believe in equality and believe everyone should be treated the same and paid the same for carrying out duties of a job role. I personally enjoy being outside and having a different view everyday, after spending over 15 years working as a chef. I also enjoy being challenged and working at Moorlands, every day is different. I think it’s important to keep breaking gender stereotypes and to see employment roles as just that, somewhere we can learn and grow.’’

In an industry where women make up less than 25% of the workforce, Moorland Fuels stands out with its commitment to empowering female talent. Charlotte John, Kerry Parsons, and relief Ranger Driver Kate Bradley are more than just delivery drivers; they are role models, defying expectations and proving that skill and dedication know no gender.

‘’I applied for the job originally because I loved driving and I fancied a change from food shop deliveries! I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it at first but I love working in the fuel industry, it brings such variety to the day. I have found you gain a lot of respect from people and our customers are always so thankful when we deliver their fuel.

The best part for me is constantly being busy out on the road and being the Ranger driver, I go to some amazing places with some awesome challenges and the team know I love a challenge! Some days it’s tough when it’s raining and muddy but the days spent delivering across Dartmoor in sun or snow with the beautiful views more than makes up for it.’’ – Charlotte John.

Moorland Fuels recognises the invaluable contributions of their female drivers and actively promotes a culture of respect, opportunity, and equal pay.

Abby Turner Director of Moorland Fuels say “The fuel industry has traditionally been male dominated, but companies like Moorland Fuels are leading the charge in changing that. By showcasing the talent and dedication of our female drivers, we hope to inspire other companies to follow suit. Together, we can create a more diverse and inclusive industry that benefits everyone.”

This International Women’s Day, Moorland Fuels is not only celebrating their remarkable drivers, but also sending a powerful message to the industry: women belong behind the wheel, in the boardroom, and at every level of the fuel industry. Their story is an inspiration to young girls everywhere, demonstrating that no dream is too big.
