How we replace and install your new tank

  1. Our OFTEC-registered engineers will safely remove the oil from your tank and store it securely while they work.
  2. Your old tank is taken away and disposed of responsibly, following all environmental regulations.
  3. We install your new tank, making sure it meets all current building regulations and works with your setup.
  4. Your oil is transferred back into the new tank.
  5. Any waste oil, sludge, or water is removed and disposed of properly.
  6. The installation is signed off with local building control.

Most replacements are done and dusted in half a day, so you won’t be left waiting around. And don’t worry if your tank is still full — we’ll handle everything without wasting a drop.

A good heating oil tank is key to keeping your home warm and comfortable all year round. Our tanks are tough, weather-resistant, and designed to keep your fuel safe. Whether you need a new installation or a replacement, we’ll take care of everything — from delivery to setup — ensuring your tank meets all safety and environmental regulations.

Your domestic tank might need replacing if it’s:

  • Single-skinned
  • Over ten years old
  • Rusty or corroded (metal tanks)
  • Sun-bleached (plastic tanks)
  • Unstable on its base
  • Too close to your house
  • Cracked, dented, or bulging
  • Giving off a strong smell of fuel
  • Leaking or killing off the plants around its base

We also offer tank health checks to catch small problems before they turn into big ones. A simple check-up by our drivers on their next delivery could save you from a costly leak, lost fuel, or an emergency replacement.

It’s also worth noting that if your tank is in bad shape, your fuel supplier might refuse to deliver due to health and safety rules — meaning no heating oil until you get a new tank. Keeping an eye on its condition now can save you a cold and costly surprise later.

If you’d like to talk about your existing tank or would like to install a new one, our expert OFTEC engineers and friendly team are here to help, giving you the peace of mind you need for you and your family.

Why replace your fuel tank?

Tanks don’t last forever. Over time, they can weaken, corrode, or become outdated and unsafe. Replacing yours before problems arise can save you expense, inconvenience, and a lot of hassle down the line. Here’s why it’s worth considering an upgrade:

  • Stop leaks before they happen: Old tanks are prone to cracks and corrosion which can lead to fuel spills, environmental damage, and even fines from the Environment Agency.
  • Stay compliant: Regulations change, and an outdated tank could leave you in breach of current fuel storage laws. Keeping up to date means protecting your home insurance and avoiding problems if you ever decide to sell your property.
  • Improve efficiency: Modern tanks have better insulation and can include built-in monitoring systems, keeping your fuel safe and secure.
  • Prevent unexpected breakdowns: A failing tank can cause major disruptions, ranging from losing winter heating to stopping your farm equipment in its tracks. Replacing an aging tank before it fails is the best way to avoid an expensive and stressful emergency.

Not sure if your tank needs replacing? Our drivers can check it over on their next delivery and give you honest advice on whether it’s time for an upgrade or perhaps an OFTEC engineer survey.
