Born in Okehampton in 2003, Moorland Fuels started with only two members of staff and one baby fuel tanker. Since then, we’ve grown the business while keeping houses heated, companies fuelled, and farms running efficiently with our reliable fuel, oil, and lubricant deliveries.

Team Biographies

Matthew Crockett – Group Managing Director

Matthew took up the reins as Group Managing Director in 2022, guiding Moorland Fuels on an exciting journey of growth and innovation. With over 30 years’ experience in the downstream fuel industry, Matthew has successfully reshaped the sales strategies and commercial offerings of some of the industry’s most respected companies.

Passionate about building a greener future, Matthew is dedicated to the shift towards low-carbon solutions and sustainable energy alternatives. He works closely with leading traders to ensure our team is fully equipped to guide our customers on the benefits of greener options, such as carbon offsetting and HVO fuel.

With his warm, approachable leadership, Matthew is committed to making your experience with us as smooth and rewarding as possible, all while paving the way for a more sustainable tomorrow.

Chris Bingham – CEO and Chairman

After spending 20 years in IT and Technology, Chris made the bold decision to sell his software business in 2010 and dive into the energy world. Now serving as Chairman, Chris is dedicated to ensuring that every customer experience is friendly, reliable, and forward-thinking. His hands-on approach, combined with a focus on building strategic partnerships and embracing the latest advancements in technology, has quickly positioned Moorland Fuels as a trusted name in the industry.

Jason Sharp – Chief Financial Officer

Jason joined the group as CFO in 2020, bringing over 20 years of diverse finance experience, spanning sectors like Energy, Transport, IT, and Telecoms. His dedication to driving growth and making finance central to the business for the benefit of our customers really shines through. A qualified Chartered Accountant from Ernst & Young, Jason helps ensure our long-term success, with a keen analytical mind and a friendly, people-first approach.

Abigail Turner – Director

Abby has been a valued member of the Moorland Fuels family since 2011. Before joining us, she spent several years in the United States working in public relations, where she gathered a wealth of experience across different industries. This background helped her develop excellent communication and relationship-building skills, which she now uses to ensure our customers and community always feel welcome and well cared for.

Abby is passionate about delivering exceptional service, and she’s always ready to go the extra mile to make sure every customer gets the personalised attention they deserve.

When she’s not busy helping our customers, you might find Abby out on the golf course, proudly representing Devon’s Ladies’ Team.

Mark Bailey – Transport Manager

Mark brings many years of experience in logistics and transportation to our team. He takes great pride in managing our Operator’s Licence and has played a key role in helping us secure FORS recognition. Dedicated to delivering safe, punctual, and cost-effective solutions, Mark always keeps our customers’ needs front and centre.

With a strong focus on regulatory compliance and team leadership, he’s committed to driving operational excellence and upholding the highest safety standards in this ever-changing industry. Mark’s wealth of experience and fresh perspective continually fuel innovative ideas, ensuring that you always receive the very best service.
