Heating Oil Financial Support Now Available for Eligible Teignbridge Households
Earlier this year we shared news that additional government funding had been allocated to help households affected by rising heating oil prices. We’re now pleased to let our customers know that eligible Teignbridge residents can apply for financial support through Teignbridge District Council’s Crisis and Resilience Fund.
At Moorland Fuels, our ethos is What Matters to You, Matters to Us. While we don’t administer the funding, we’re pleased to support Teignbridge District Council by helping raise awareness of the scheme, so everyone who may be eligible knows where to find the information they need.
Who can apply:
The Crisis and Resilience Fund can help residents who use oil as their main source of heating and are experiencing financial hardship due to rising fuel costs.
To qualify, you must be on a low income or receive means-tested benefits and must be aged 16 or over to apply.
How the scheme works:
The government has provided additional funding (£1,303,439) to Devon County Council in the 2026/27 financial year to support households experiencing financial hardship. Teignbridge District Council is using part of this funding to help eligible residents in rural communities where households depend on heating oil rather than mains gas.
How to apply:
Apply online at Teignbridge Council’s webpage. You will need to provide evidence of income or means-tested benefits. You can either upload this or send it by post (evidence must be received within 21 days of making your application).
Once an application has been submitted and all the required information has been received, the council will assess it and notify you of the outcome.
Supporting our community
While this funding won’t help every household affected by higher heating oil prices, it is a welcome source of support for many families facing increased energy costs.
At Moorland Fuels, we will continue supporting our customers in the ways we can. Through our Cosy Heating Club domestic Direct Debit customers can order just 300 litres of heating oil, instead of the industry-standard minimum of 500 litres, helping households better manage their heating costs when budgets are stretched.
We are pleased to be working with Teignbridge District Council to help share information about this scheme via our channels and outreach to local community networks, ensuring as many eligible residents as possible are aware that support is available.
Abby Turner, Director of Moorland Fuels, commented: ‘What matters to our customer and communities, matters to us too. That’s why we’re actively supporting Teignbridge District Council to raise awareness of this funding. We know that many households have faced increased heating oil costs over the past year, and so for eligible residents that are struggling, this will make a meaningful difference.”
Help spread the word
In Teignbridge, around 3,800 homes rely on oil for central heating. If you or someone you know could benefit from this funding in the coming months, please share this information with them.
Full details of the scheme, including eligibility criteria and how to apply, can be found on Teignbridge Council’s webpage.
